COOK
REPORTS TO: Camp Director
HONOURARIUM: $250 for 3 day camp and $500 per 5 day camp plus park pass
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Camp Director, the Cook is responsible the safe handling, preparation and serving of food for staff, volunteers, and campers.
In collaboration with the Camp Director, the Cook creates effective work schedules and monitors the performance of kitchen personnel.
This position also requires the purchase and transportation of food items and needed equipment to the camp, in collaboration with other kitchen staff, prior to the start of the camp program.

KITCHEN HELPER
REPORTS TO: Cook and Camp Director
HONOURARIUM: $150 per 3 day camp and $250 per 5 day camp
Reporting to the Camp Director, the Kitchen Helper assists the Cook with every aspect of food services.
The Cook and the Kitchen helper must complete a brief orientation session with Camp Director prior to the camp.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- able to work within, and support, principles of the Christian faith
- experience in a role with similar responsibilities
- ability to establish and maintain a sanitary and functional kitchen environment
- evidence of sensitivity to the needs of young people with an ability to respond appropriately
- ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member
- ability operate all equipment used in nutrition services
- ability to respect and promote confidentiality
- for staff over 18, a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- experience working in a faith-based, or a non-profit organization
- experience in food preparation for large groups
- FOR COOK ONLY - completion of an approved food safety course within the past two years (Camp Director will arrange and the cost will be covered by the Diocese, if needed)
Working Conditions:
• Those accepting free board live in a small, furnished cabin that may be shared with other personnel or campers.
* Living space can be assigned, then re-assigned, based on administrative needs.
* All personnel priorize the welfare of campers over personal needs.
* Overtime may be required and the hours can be irregular.
* Inhibited scheduled breaks.
* Equipment is limited, or basic.
* Expect daily exposure to sun, heat, insects and possibly wildlife.
* Be prepared to encounter hazardous environmental conditions and hazards.(e.g., extreme weather)
* In a group setting, there is risk of exposure to illness and conditions, e.g., lice.
* Transportation to and from camp is an individual responsibility.
Physical Demands:
* Must be medically and psychologically fit to tolerate the working conditions inherent in the position.
* In an emergency, you will be required to assist with the response that could include evacuation.
* You may be required to stand for long periods and bend or stoop.
