Indigenous Ministry
Diocese of Qu’Appelle
Anglican Church of Canada
The Diocesan takes its commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation ‘Calls to Action’ report and recommendations very seriously.
As part of this commitment, we have created an Indigenous
ministry to foster strong relationship between the Indigenous peoples and the community.
The Reverend Alexander Campbell has been appointed Priest in Charge, Diocesan Indigenous ministry to serve on a non-stipend volunteer part-time basis.
His main areas of responsibilities are to promote Indigenous ministry and worship services and the promotion and implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission ‘Calls to Action’.
The Diocesan Indigenous Ministry is dedicated to fostering awareness, inclusiveness, and meaningful relationships with Indigenous peoples within the Diocese and the broader community. It seeks to build respectful and supportive partnerships with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities by promoting their knowledge, traditions, cultures, customs, and languages.
This Ministry is a commitment to walking together in faith, belief, and spirituality. It aims to support healing, forgiveness, and reconciliation through the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, in collaboration with Indigenous peoples.
The Ministry encourages practical and achievable steps toward reconciliation, grounded in cooperation and mutual respect. It values the wisdom, gifts, and teachings of Indigenous peoples and supports opportunities for learning about Indigenous history, beliefs, and contributions to the community.
At its core, the Indigenous Ministry exists to provide a welcoming and spiritually relevant space for Indigenous individuals and families - a place for worship, gathering, celebration, learning, sharing, and healing. It invites and encourages those seeking to live out their faith in a way that honors both Christian and Indigenous spiritual traditions and their walk with the Creator (Keechi Manitou).
Purpose of the Ministry
The Ministry’s primary role/purpose is to support Indigenous, services, guidance and input in the development and establishment of an Indigenous community of faith. The Ministry is defined through our vision and mission.

Values
A Ministry that is a diverse, open and caring community of people who have come together in fellowship to joyfully live out our love for the Creator (Keechi Manitou) and to actively engage in loving and caring about all peoples no matter what race, religion and beliefs. All of the Diocese of Qu’Appelle is knowledgeable about Indigenous culture, concerns and issues, and meaningfully incorporates that awareness into the life of the community.
