The Faith, Worship and Ministry Committee of the Anglican Church of Canada met January 14, 2025 and passed a resolution to take the attached document to the General Synod this June, with a request that it be commended to the dioceses.
The status of the document is as follows: At present it is a Report from an internal Task Force of the Consultation on Common Texts. It is expected to be approved – in this form – at the next meeting of the Consultation on Common Texts (CCT) in April. That is the reason why we are not taking it to the Council of General Synod in March for commendation to dioceses. We want to await its final status before making any formal approval.
That said, the FWM committee agreed that it is important work that may be helpful to diocesan bishops now, especially as liturgical planning for Lent, Holy Week, and Easter is well underway in some places.
The Consultation on Common Texts is a broad ecumenical roundtable with a membership currently representing approximately 30 denominations in North America. The Anglican Church of Canada is a founding member.
