For me as an Indigenous follower of Christ, the work of reconciliation means educating and creating awareness of the language, culture, traditions and ceremonies of Indigenous people to the non-indigenous population. The non-Indigenous community must understand the full impacts of colonialism. Only when the non-Indigenous community has an appreciation and acceptance of what the first inhabitants of this land (Indigenous/First Nations peoples) gave up and force-ably taken away from them then the path to reconciliation will have began.
