As an archivist, I am committed to documenting the lives and telling the stories of those who have gone before us, including children who attended Gordon’s Residential School. To achieve that goal records such as sacramental registers, letters, minutes, and photographs, are key to undertaking this quest. The task is not for the faint-hearted. There are no short cuts in locating the information, but rather it is methodical, detailed and pain-staking research. Nonetheless, through the use of documentary evidence in whatever form together with new technology and methodology, we hope to gain a better knowledge and understanding of our past. Knowing the truth is essential in bringing about reconciliation.
